Biggest Loser’s Jillian Michaels Fails Miserably with Kettlebells

I witnessed a landmark event last night that was Ranting Fuel for today. Jillian Michaels demonstrating KETTLEBELLS on The Biggest Loser….WRONG! Imagine that. Someone on TV who doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing. Jillian, you should be ashamed of demonstrating something you obviously have yet to learn how to use yourself. This is even more devastating because you stand atop a very influential platform that MILLIONS of people watching NOT-in-the-know now know about kettlebells (good) but will use them wrong (bad).

This is the equivalent of myself taking a 2 hour class on transmission repair at Jiffy Lube and then opening shop to fix transmissions. Any takers? I guarantee you this…make sure your insurance is paid up because you’ll be buying a new car!

Saw Jillian last night demo for national tv, knew this would fire you up and warrant a Brad-rant!!!The whole kitchen exploded with …”what the…is she doing.” Even being a novice I could see she had no idea what she was doing…..It made the novice not feel so pathetic along with the knowledge that we have BRAD(obviously not the biggest loser)on our side..keep it up Brad, thanks for what your doing.
Did not see the program myself so can’t comment on this specific case, but…. too many Personal Trainers think that they can bluff their way through. You should always make sure that you can do ANY exercise you show to a client, this is where your testing of new methods, techniques and equipment in your own training come in.
Just my Opinion anyway!

I did not see Jillian attempt the kettle bells but I must say that I am shocked.
Then again she fronts for 24 hour fitness and I have had bad experiences with that company, as have a few of my clients.
I’m sure she thought she was competent, poor dear.
JACKIE WARNER is great with kettle bells. She still has them donned on the floor next to her other free weights, and I’ve actually seen her use them…properly.

I found it interesting that you went off on the improper technique, but didn’t show us the correct way to use them. Hummmm
You people are something else
Jillian is terribly gifted and fit and amazing and, yes she may have made one teensy little mistake, but so what? get over it! It’s really not a big deal.
Diane, *you* are something else, or should i say someone else (Jillian? Is that you?) How in the world is Jillian gifted, fit or amazing? She is an angry idiot, who yells at her own “students” on the Tyra Banks show, uses equipment improperly… how are those “teensy” mistakes. Improper use of equipment IS is a VERY BIG deal, it results in injury which can at the very least destroy a training regimen or at worst CRIPPLE a person. That is the worst thing a “personal trainer” of any kind can do, short of killing the person with their bare hands.
Those are valid points, Dianne, but my case still stands. Jillian works hard everyday and inspires other people, even myself, to push our limits. And the “angry-bitch” persona is just that, a persona, and it’s usually over exaggerated.
If you ask me, Jillian did mess up. But those stupid enough not to research properly the correct use of exercise equipment and instead base their instructions on one person are the real idiots. I’ve had friends get injured severely because of lack of research. Jillian was not correct in her demonstration but im too smart not to look for other sources of instruction before using kettle bells.
p.s. i really love Jillian but the girl needs to practice these things before demonstrating incorrectly on live television!
